2022 Au Sommet

Soul Hook: High-elevation Napa power—polished structure with minty black fruit and a poised backbone.

Why choose it?
- Estate mountain site -> cleaner, riper fruit and pronounced tension on the palate.
- Low-yield hillside vines -> concentrated flavours that reward short cellar time or further aging.
- Subtle spice lift -> immediate approachability while remaining age-worthy.

Sommelier's Note: This 2022 shows dense blackcurrant layered with violet and a cool spearmint lift. Oak spices are finely woven; tannins are lacy and well-grained, giving structure without heaviness. Approachable now after an hour’s decant, yet built to evolve gracefully over a decade.

Winemaking: Hand-harvested from low-yielding hillside blocks; small percentage of a spice component was blended to add aromatic lift. Matured in oak to polish tannins and integrate savory notes.

Vineyard: Perched high on Atlas Peak (~2,100 ft), the vineyard avoids valley fog, benefits from intense sun and cooling night drops—ideal for slow, balanced ripening and concentrated aromatics.

Occasions & Pairing: Best with roast or grilled red meats—think bone-in sirloin or slow roasted lamb—plus richer Mediterranean or North African spiced dishes. Decant ~60 minutes for immediate pleasure.

Competitive Edge: Offers focused mountain pedigree and age-worthiness at a price that undercuts many cult Napa alternatives—structured, refined and ready to drink sooner.
