Tasting note: This Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from 2019 opens with an expressive bouquet of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry and deeper black-fruit notes, framed by earthy forest-floor, dried herbs and a hint of truffle and spice. On the palate it is layered and precise — bright acidity lifts the fruit while silky yet firm tannins provide structure, leading to a concentrated, very long savory finish.
Producer notes: Bottled under the Chateau de La Tour label in collaboration with Labet & Dechelette, this wine is drawn from the Vieilles Vignes within the famed Clos de Vougeot wall. The Grand Cru quality and old-vine concentration give pronounced depth and the capacity for extended aging.
Winemaking notes: Hand-harvested fruit is treated with careful, gentle extraction to preserve aromatic clarity and fine-grained texture. The wine typically undergoes traditional fermentation and an élevage in French oak barrels, contributing spice, subtle oak framing and integrated tannins without overpowering the terroir-driven fruit.
Vineyard notes: Planted on the classic limestone and clay soils of Clos de Vougeot, these old vines produce small, concentrated berries. The vineyard’s sheltered microclimate and historic walls help create a mature, complex profile—mineral backbone, concentrated fruit and savory complexity that will evolve gracefully over decades.
Serve slightly below room temperature after decanting (60–90 minutes) if drinking in its youth. Excellent with roasted game birds, richer red-meat preparations, and aged cow’s milk cheeses.
