1999 Chateau Leoville Las Cases

The 1999 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases 'Grand Vin de Leoville' is a remarkable wine from the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. This wine showcases a deep ruby color with violet reflections. On the nose, it reveals delicate animal nuances, hints of heart cherries, and subtle notes of cloves. The palate is fresh and red-berried with a lively structure, balanced minerality, and a complex, polished expression. The wine is matured in French oak, adding a layer of sophistication to its already impressive profile. This vintage is known for its early harvest due to a warm, wet spring, followed by a sunny summer, resulting in a wine that is both approachable and age-worthy. Perfectly paired with grilled lamb, beef stew, mature cheeses, and roasted duck.
