2023 Domaine Arnaud et Sophie Sirugue-Noellat Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru

Tasting note: A youthful Grand Cru that opens with lifted aromas of red and black fruit—cherry, raspberry and blackberry—underscored by violet florals, forest-floor complexity and a hint of clove and cedar from careful oak ageing. On the palate it is concentrated yet refined: bright, saline acidity carries vibrant fruit through layers of silky, fine-grained tannin and subtle earthy, mushroomy notes. The texture is poised and medium-plus in weight, finishing long with mineral clarity and lingering spice.

Producer notes: From the small, family-run domaine of Arnaud and Sophie Sirugue-Noëllat, this Grands Échezeaux is produced in very limited quantities with strong attention to terroir expression and low-intervention cellar work.

Winemaking notes: Gentle extraction in the cellar preserves aromatic lift while building structure; élevage in French oak (including a portion in newer barrels) for around 12–18 months adds spice and fine tannic support without overwhelming the fruit. The approach favors balance and detail to reflect site specificity.

Vineyard notes: Sourced from parcels within the steep, limestone-rich slopes of Grands Échezeaux in Vosne-Romanée, vines benefit from good exposure, shallow calcareous soils and careful yield management. The result is a wine that combines concentration with precision and a distinctly mineral backbone.
