Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières has a well defined precise bouquet with vibrant citrus fruit, cold stone, just a small amount of reduction but great focus. The palate is well balanced with crisp citrus fruit, nicely focused with good depth and fruit concentration, the mineralité coming through right on the finish. This is one of the better Folatières this year without doubt. Tasted May 2016.

The 2013 Domaine Leflaive Les Folatieres is a testament to the elegance and complexity that the Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru region can produce. This biodynamic wine, crafted by the skilled hands of winemaker Eric Rémy, showcases a buttery texture with a sophisticated blend of freshness and developed secondary characters. The vineyard's calcareous clay soil contributes to the wine's distinct minerality and depth. With a gentle pressing and careful oak maturation, this Chardonnay reveals a harmonious balance of flavors. Decanting for an hour is recommended to fully savor its aromatic bouquet. Pair it with dishes like grilled lobster or a creamy mushroom risotto to elevate your dining experience.
