This 2017 single-vineyard Beerenauslese from Saarburger Rausch is a concentrated, lusciously sweet wine with crystalline acidity that keeps it lively rather than cloying. Layers of honeyed apricot, orange marmalade, candied citrus peel and ginger are joined by subtle botrytis complexity and a cool, stony minerality reflective of the Saar's slate slopes. The palate shows glycerolic texture yet fine, racy acidity that carries the sweetness to a very long, polished finish. Producer notes: From Weingut Markus Molitor’s top parcels in Saarburger Rausch, fruit was selected berry-by-berry at very late harvest, focused on botrytised berries to produce a richly concentrated dessert bottling. Small lots were vinified with slow, cool fermentation to retain aromatic lift and balanced by the site's natural acidity. Winemaking: Hand-harvested tranches were gently pressed and fermented slowly in temperature-controlled vessels to preserve primary aromatics; maturation was conservative — neutral containers and careful clarification — so the wine shows purity and terroir rather than oak influence. Vineyard: Saarburger Rausch sits on steep, slate-rich terraces along the Saar; cool maritime influence and late-summer mist encourage noble rot in selected years. Low yields, meticulous sorting and age-worthy structure define these single-vineyard sweet wines.
