2018 Opus One (6000 ml)

Soul Hook: A Napa icon — concentrated yet silk-smooth, built for both immediate pleasure and long-term cellaring.

Why choose it?
1) Estate pedigree -> Hand-harvested fruit from four contiguous parcels in Oakville yields focused, terroir-driven layers you taste from the first sip.
2) Thoughtful élevage -> 17 months in new French oak adds structure and spice while preserving fresh fruit clarity for immediate enjoyment or ageing.
3) Proven vintage balance -> A cool, consistent 2018 season produced generous yields with ripe, vibrant flavors and polished tannins — exceptional value versus peers.

Winemaker & Vineyard Notes:
Opus One is the realisation of a singular mission to pursue uncompromising quality. The estate parcels – including holdings within the famed To Kalon area – were managed with a mix of traditional hand-harvesting and targeted modern techniques. Fermentation included extended skin contact (18 days) and the wine finished with 17 months in new French oak barrels to build complexity and silky texture.

Sommelier's Private Note:
On opening you’ll be greeted by layers of dark fruit — blackberry, cassis and black cherry — with floral violet and a savory undercurrent of graphite, orange zest and dark chocolate. The palate is broad and plush, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity delivering a creamy mid-palate and a very long finish. Drink now after an hour’s aeration for immediate charm, or cellar confidently for decades.

Occasion & Pairing:
For milestone dinners, hotel-suite celebrations, or a refined Chinese banquet: pair with char siu or roasted beef, or let it anchor a Western-style tasting menu with lamb and aged cheese. Best served at 16–18°C after decanting.

Competitive Edge:
Compared with similarly styled top-tier bottles, this vintage offers superb vintage balance and immediate accessibility while retaining long-term ageing potential — a regarded icon that still rewards both drinking now and keeping for future enjoyment.
