The 2003 Chateau Leoville Poyferre is a remarkable wine from the Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. This wine boasts a deep, dark ruby-red color and offers dark-fruit aromas that are ripe yet restrained. On the palate, it reveals ripe cassis character with firm tannins and a balanced acidity. The structure is robust, and the fruit closes up on the mid-palate, leading to a finish of reasonable length. This wine is crafted by the skilled hands of Isabelle Davin and Didier Thomann, with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. The vineyard spans 80 hectares, reflecting the richness and diversity of the Saint-Julien terroir. The grapes undergo meticulous sorting and pre-fermentation cold maceration, followed by daily pump-overs until the end of alcoholic fermentation. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a complex and elegant profile.
