The flavor profile is balanced, round, and powerful, with a complex and expressive character. Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first distillery, was built in 1934 by founder Masataka Taketsuru. He chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido for its environmental similarities to Scotland, where he learned the art of whisky-making.
