Tasting note

The 2018 Chateau Duhart-Milon is a quintessential Pauillac, showcasing the elegance and power of this esteemed appellation. With a beautiful dark red color and glints of black, this wine offers a nose that is still developing but hints at superb aromatic potential. On the palate, it starts with a soft and silky attack, gradually revealing a fresh character typical of Duhart-Milon’s late-ripening terroir. The wine is dense with tight, delicate tannins, creating excellent length and a promising future. Crafted by winemaker Christophe Congé, this blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot was aged for 18 months in French oak, resulting in a wine with depth, complexity, and perfectly integrated oaky notes. Ideal for pairing with grilled lamb chops, roast beef, mature cheeses, and duck confit.

Winery

Château Duhart-Milon, a 4th Grand Cru Classé, is often described as a model of the Pauillac appellation. The estate has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century, with its wines noted for their robustness, fine color, and pronounced sappiness. The vineyard, managed by Louis Caillard, benefits from a unique terroir that includes both drier soils for Cabernet Sauvignon and more clayey soils for Merlot, resulting in a balanced and harmonious blend. The 2018 vintage faced challenging weather conditions but ultimately produced a wine of exceptional quality, thanks to meticulous vineyard management and winemaking techniques.
