Description

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 La Grave a Pomerol slightly exceeded my expectations. There is a slight aloofness on the nose at first, but with aeration this gradually unfolds to reveal pleasant, black truffle and smoke-tinged black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with leafy black fruit, quite herbaceous in style but in a positive sense, since it is supported by freshness and vitality. This is a perfectly decent early-drinking Pomerol. Tasted March 2015.

Tasting note

The 2007 Chateau La Grave a Pomerol Trigant de Boisset is a testament to the rich heritage of the Pomerol region. This wine, with its savory and classic profile, is a blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, offering a symphony of flavors. The nose is greeted with a developed bouquet of spiced fruit, reminiscent of black forest cake and dried red roses, with a subtle touch of cocoa. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious blend of red and black plums, cassis, and a lingering finish of earthy dried thyme. With a good structure and a core of black fruit, it is accented by notes of pepper and spice, making it a delightful wine to enjoy now or to keep until 2025. Perfectly paired with an eye fillet, slow-cooked roasts, tomato-based pasta, or a selection of hard cheeses, this wine is best served after decanting for an hour to fully appreciate its complexity.
