The 2019 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases 'Grand Vin de Leoville' is a remarkable wine from the Saint-Julien appellation in Bordeaux. This wine showcases a complex bouquet of currants, blackberry, spearmint, tobacco leaf, cigar box, flowers, cedar chest, and espresso. On the palate, it reveals intense dark berries, nougat, cardamom, dark cherries, and a hint of candied oranges. The wine is powerful yet balanced, with fresh acidity, supporting tannins, and a hint of chocolate on the finish. This wine has a mineral quality and a very long-lasting finish, making it a vin de garde with enormous future potential. Produced by Domaines Delon, the wine benefits from the exceptional terroirs of the former Léoville estate, mainly located in the Clos Léoville Las Cases. The 2019 vintage experienced a mild winter, a humid and cool spring, and a dry, hot summer, resulting in optimal maturation and maintained acidity. Aged for 18 months in French oak, this wine is best enjoyed after decanting for 2 hours and pairs beautifully with rack of lamb, filet mignon with pepper sauce, roast duck breast, venison medallions with red wine sauce, or leg of lamb.
