Dark, slightly more saturated, youthful plum/ruby/purple, with notes of licorice, scorched earth, and burning embers, the wine is structured, but displays terrific fruit intensity, medium to full body, and lots of upside potential.

With plenty of distinct loamy soil, earth, and charcoal notes along with pure black currant and plum-like fruit, this wine is dense, full-bodied, still somewhat restrained, but displaying sweet, velvety tannins and impressive texture and length.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon M by Michael Mondavi is a pretty wine laced with tobacco, dried flowers, raspberries and gentle spices. Today, the tannins appear to be a bit firm considering the wine’s otherwise mid-weight structure.
