Tasting note: Aromas open with signature Clynelish waxy top notes layered over bright citrus zest and a coastal saline whisper. Secondary notes of dried figs, toasted almond, vanilla caramel and a hint of dark chocolate lead into a creamy, oily mid‑palate. The Oloroso Seco double‑maturation brings dry sherry complexity — nutty, orange peel and warm baking spice — balanced by fine toasted oak and a lengthy, slightly saline finish. Producer notes: This Distillers Edition receives a second maturation in specially selected Oloroso Seco casks, chosen to impart a drier sherry influence that complements the distillery’s natural waxy, maritime character. Bottled at 46% ABV to retain aromatic lift and mouthfeel. Winemaking / distillation notes: Distilled in traditional copper pot stills and finished in Oloroso Seco casks following primary maturation (ex‑bourbon/seasoned oak), the whisky is married and rested to allow integration of spice, fruit and oak layers without overwhelming the core distillery style. Vineyard / site notes: Crafted on the north Highland coast, the distillery’s coastal warehouses and cool, salty air contribute a subtle maritime note and tautness. The result is a balanced single malt that marries seaside freshness with warm, dry sherry richness — approachable on first pour yet rewarding with time in the glass.
