Tasting note

A classic Saint‑Emilion Grand Cru from Chateau Grand Mayne’s 1998 vintage, showing mature, layered character. The nose offers wet earth, floral lift, thyme and a minty‑eucalyptus note alongside cherry and blacker fruit. On the palate it is medium‑to‑full, with elegant red‑berry and spice elements framed by toasty, French oak and a tobacco‑tinged, broody finish. Producer notes: Classified Saint‑Emilion Grand Cru Classé, vinified in thermoregulated wooden and stainless‑steel vats and aged 18 months in French barriques (70% new). Vineyard: clay‑limestone soils on the hillside with heavier clay at the foot, contributing structure and depth. Closure: cork. Drinking window listed through 2023; best served after a short decant to open its tertiary aromas. Ideal with rich red meats and game.

Winery

Chateau Grand Mayne is a Saint‑Emilion Grand Cru Classé estate known for producing structured, classically styled wines that balance ripe fruit with aromatics and firm tannic backbone. The estate combines traditional vineyard practices on clay‑limestone slopes with careful vinification and substantial barrel ageing to craft wines built for medium‑term cellaring.
