A rare 1946 vintage from Delord that opens with an opulent bouquet of dried orchard fruits, candied citrus peel, and warm toffee framed by well-integrated oak spice and leather. On the palate it is silkily concentrated—layers of fig, prune, almond and honeyed caramel unfold into notes of tobacco and old cedar. Long, warming and impeccably balanced, the finish lingers with orange peel, spice and a soft, toasted nuttiness. Producer notes: Delord’s story began in 1893 with Prosper Delord, a travelling distiller; the house in Lannepax remains family-run and preserves historic cellars and practices. Winemaking & ageing: grapes are harvested and vinified parcel by parcel with careful temperature control to produce a slightly acidic, low-alcohol wine ideal for winter distillation. Delord employs both continuous and double distillation methods; eaux-de-vie mature in a combination of oak casks and older glass bonbonnes—the oldest vintages resting in a room known as Paradise. Vineyard notes: the estate covers 45 hectares across 11 parcels around Lannepax, managed year-round for healthy ripeness and aromatic concentration. Serve neat in a tulip glass after 30 minutes’ rest to allow complex tertiary aromas to open.

Armagnac Delord: a family house founded on the itinerant practices of Prosper Delord in 1893. Still based in Lannepax, Delord combines traditional know-how with modern cellar management. The estate manages 45 hectares across 11 parcels. Grapes are vinified separately with strict temperature control to produce low-alcohol, aromatic wines for winter distillation. The house uniquely uses both continuous and double distillation; ageing takes place in a mix of oak barrels and glass bonbonnes, with the oldest vintages preserved in a special cellar room.
