The 2019 Blank Canvas 'Abstract' Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand, is a unique expression of this classic varietal. The nose is greeted with intense blackcurrant and white floral aromas, while the palate is treated to a rich texture and flinty minerality. The wine is wild fermented in seasoned French oak puncheons and lees-aged for 14 months, resulting in a beautifully balanced and elegant wine. Blank Canvas Wines is owned by Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson. The Holdaway family, who have been farming in Marlborough for generations, own the vineyard. The 'Abstract' Sauvignon Blanc is dry-farmed, a rare practice in Marlborough, and the vineyard is VSP-trained and cane-pruned.
