The 2005 Chateau Lynch-Bages, a Fifth Growth from the esteemed Pauillac appellation, is a testament to the grandeur of Bordeaux winemaking. This vintage, which is already being hailed as one of the greatest in recent decades, presents a medium to deep ruby-red hue, exuding aromas of cassis, cedar, and a hint of dustiness. On the palate, it reveals superb, clean fruit that melds with firm, fine tannins, offering a good grip and a classic Lynch-Bages profile. With plentiful cassis fruit, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant, and harmonious finish, this wine is a true reflection of its terroir, characterized by the Garonne gravel soils of its vineyard. The hand-picked and sorted grapes, aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, contribute to its concentrated blackberry and cassis flavors, full-bodied mouthfeel, and undeniable youthfulness. Decanting for approximately two hours is recommended to allow the wine to express its full potential, making it an excellent companion to hearty dishes such as grilled lamb chops or Beef Wellington.
