2019 Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes
2019 Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes
This Premier Cru from Meursault’s Charmes parcel offers a classic balance of richness and precision. Aromas of white peach, citrus zest and a hint of honeysuckle lead to a broad, creamy palate—layers of toasted almond, warm pastry and subtle vanilla oak integrate with a saline, mineral streak. The texture is silky yet focused, supported by lively acidity and a long, elegant finish. Produced by the family-run domaine of Vincent and François Bitouzet, the wine is vinified in a restrained, traditional style: gentle pressing, fermentation and élevage in French oak (with a portion of new oak for structure), and careful malolactic completion to round the mid-palate. The Charmes terroir—deep clay-limestone soils on sun-warmed slopes—gives concentrated fruit and noteworthy depth. Drink now with gentle decanting, or cellar through the next decade and a half for further refinement.
