Winemaker & Vineyard: From M. Chapoutier’s Barbe Rac parcel on Quaternary terraces of rolled Rhône pebbles. Vines average ~90 years. Grapes are biodynamically farmed and carefully sorted at harvest.
Winemaking Notes: Fermented in concrete at warm temperatures for about three weeks to encourage tannin polymerization; only free-run juice is used. Aged around 16 months (oaked maturation) to build density while keeping freshness.
Tasting Note: Deep garnet in the glass. Aromas of black plum, kirsch and wild red berry are layered with dried herbs, liquorice and a touch of dark chocolate. On the palate it’s ample and fleshy — warm, round and silky, yet underpinned by lively acidity and supportive tannins. A long, mineral-tinged finish lingers.
Sommelier’s Note: Decant for an hour to let the core fruit open and the spice knit into the mid-palate. It’s a wine that wants bold food — grilled lamb or a tomato-rich braise is ideal. Serve at 16–18°C.
