Tasting note
This 2019 Longyu 'Long 8' from Chateau Changyu Moser shows concentrated dark-fruit aromatics—blackberry, plum and black cherry—framed by cedar, vanilla and subtle tobacco. The palate is full-bodied with a dense core of ripe fruit, firm yet ripe tannins and bright, balancing acidity. Oak influence brings baking spice, mocha and a touch of struck flint; the finish is long and savoury. Producer notes: crafted by one of China’s best-known houses, the Longyu range reflects modern winemaking combined with regional Ningxia character. Winemaking notes: parcels are selected from mature sites, fermented with careful extraction to build structure, followed by extended élevage in oak to integrate tannins and add complexity. Vineyard notes: sourced from Ningxia’s continental plateau—ample diurnal range, well-draining soils and controlled yields—that produce concentrated phenolic ripeness while retaining freshness. Best enjoyed after an hour of decanting to open up aromatics and soften tannins.
