Tasting note
Tasting note: Rich, concentrated aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry are lifted by cedar, tobacco and a hint of graphite. On the palate the wine shows layered dark fruit, firm structured tannins and lively acidity, finishing with toasted oak, vanilla and a persistent spicy edge. Producer notes: From Longyu’s reserve line, this wine reflects the estate’s focus on controlled yields and careful selection. The team combines modern cellar techniques with hands-on sorting to produce wines built for texture and ageing. Winemaking notes: Small-batch fermentation with gentle extraction retains fruit purity while building tannic structure. Maturation in a mix of seasoned and new oak adds spice and vanilla complexity without overwhelming the fruit core. Vineyard notes: Fruit is sourced from low-yield blocks tended for balanced ripeness. Soils are well drained and canopy management focuses on sun exposure and air flow, supporting healthy fruit concentration and phenolic development. Serving suggestion: Decant for around 60 minutes to allow the tannins to relax and aromas to open; serve at about 16–18°C.
