1995 Chateau Leoville Poyferre

This 1995 Chateau Leoville Poyferre is a classic Bordeaux blend, offering a deep, dark ruby-red color and a nose of ripe, dark fruit overlaid with cedary notes. The palate is characterized by firm oaky tannins and juicy, sweet cassis fruit. The wine is currently a little awkward, with the fruit being closed and lacking generosity. However, the acidity is pretty good, and the alcohol is balanced. The wine will need time to come into balance, but it promises a good length and a subtle oak aroma in harmony with the Léoville Poyferré style.
