2005 Chateau Belgrave

Tasting Note: A classic Haut-Médoc from 2005 showing a dark, inviting core of blackberry and blackcurrant with undercurrents of tobacco, cedar and earthy minerality. Hints of peppermint/eucalyptus and dried fruit add complexity. On the palate it is medium-full with ripe, moderately firm tannins and a savory, persistent finish.
Producer & Winemaking: From Château Belgrave in Haut-Médoc, this vintage reflects traditional Médoc élevage — careful fermentation followed by maturation in French oak for around a year to eighteen months with a portion of new oak to add structure and spice while preserving fruit clarity.
Vineyard Notes: Sourced from well-exposed plots in the Haut-Médoc, the site gives wines a firm backbone and mineral tension. 2005 was a generous vintage, producing concentrated fruit and good aging potential.
Service: Decant 60–90 minutes to open the aromatics fully. Serve at 16–18°C.
