This property, which has benefitted enormously from tremendous investments from the Rothschild family that owns Lafite, has turned out a dense purple-colored wine in 2005. Offering broad, expansive, supple and silky tannin as well as loads of Asian plum sauce, blackcurrants, and sweet cherries, this wine is seductive, medium to full-bodied, and luscious. This successful effort from the Rothschilds should continue to drink well for at least another two decades.

Tasting note

The 2005 Chateau Duhart-Milon is a testament to the grandeur of the Pauillac appellation. This wine exudes a deep, dense color and a bouquet brimming with ripe red cherries and classic cedar notes. On the palate, it reveals a tapestry of fresh redcurrant and cranberry fruits, woven together with clean cedar flavors and a robust structure. The alcohol is well-balanced, and the acidity adds a lifting freshness, culminating in a long, complex finish. A model of Pauillac savoriness, this wine is a delightful journey of ample tannins and precision.
