2022 Domaine Caroline Frey Corton Le Clos du Chateau Grand Cru Monopole

A compelling Grand Cru from a single monopole site in Corton, this 2022 shows ripe, concentrated fruit framed by mineral undertones and sophisticated oak. Aromas of dark cherry, plum and blackberry open to reveal layers of forest floor, cedar and warm spice. On the palate it is generous yet refined: plush mid-palate density, polished tannins and lively acidity carry vibrant fruit through to a long, mineral-driven finish. Producer notes emphasize careful, low-yield viticulture in a compact, well-exposed parcel; winemaking follows a classical Burgundian route — gentle extraction, parcel-specific fermentations and élevage in French oak (a portion new) to respect terroir and texture. Drink after a short decant to allow aromatic lift; holds well for several years but already offers captivating complexity.
