2017 Joseph Drouhin Chambolle Musigny

Tasting Note: Bright and finely textured, this Chambolle-Musigny opens with violet and black cherry aromas layered over damp earth and subtle truffle notes. On the palate it is silky and round, with refined, well-integrated tannins, juicy mid-palate intensity and a long cherry-and-candied-fruit finish.
Producer Notes: From the Drouhin family estate in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, small parcels are tended with traditional care under winemaker Véronique Drouhin. The estate favours elegance and purity over power, producing wines often described as lace-like and refined.
Winemaking Notes: Hand-harvested and sorted, fermentations use indigenous yeasts with careful temperature and extraction control; macerations last about 2–3 weeks. The wine matures 14–18 months in French oak (20% new), with light fining and barrel-by-barrel selection to preserve finesse.
Vineyard Notes: Parcels sit between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot on Jurassic limestone soils. The holdings are small (around 0.25 ha for this lot) with an average vine age of roughly 20 years, giving focused, mineral-driven character and balanced ripeness in the 2017 vintage.
