2023 Chateau Mouton Rothschild

Brilliant and authoritative, the 2023 from Château Mouton Rothschild is a concentrated Pauillac with towering structure and exceptional depth. The nose opens on intense black fruits—cassis and blackberry—then unfurls layers of crushed cherry, graphite, tobacco, cedar and a hint of mint. On the palate it shows firm, chiselled tannins, a dense mid-palate and vibrant acidity that keeps the fruit focused; notes of dark chocolate, espresso and spice linger through a very long finish. Made from the estate’s high-density, well-drained gravel soils and harvested across September, the wine was aged 18 months in French oak. This is a built-to-age vintage: bold now after extended decanting, spectacular with cellaring over decades.
