Crafted by the renowned biodynamic pioneer M. Chapoutier, Barbe Rac represents the ultimate parcel expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The fruit originates from exceptional 90-year-old vines planted on an ancient Quaternary terrace densely carpeted with iconic rounded river pebbles (galets roulés). Chapoutier vinifies exclusively using free-run juice in neutral concrete vats to safeguard vibrant natural fruit expression against oxidation, avoiding oak influence. The 2021 vintage showcases brilliant garnet depths, unlocking fragrant aromas of wild macerated berries, licorice, bitter dark cocoa, and hints of savory blood orange. On the palate, it strikes an aristocratic balance between plush power and crystalline minerality, carrying velvety tannins into an endlessly complex finish.
