Tasting Note: A classic Saint-Julien showing layers of tapenade, spice-box, cedar chest, sweet black cherries and concentrated black currants. Earthy and tobacco notes underline a savory, opulent texture and a medium–to–full body with polished but present tannins. Producer Notes: Created by Henri Martin and assembled from numerous prized parcels (many classified in 1855), Château Gloria has built a reputation for meticulous viticulture and sustained quality. Today under the ownership of Jean Louis Triaud, the estate continues traditional, attentive winemaking. Winemaking Notes: Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats using traditional methods. The wine spends 14 months in casks, with roughly 40% renewed each year, contributing to the cedar and spice influence without overwhelming the fruit. Vineyard Notes: The Domaines Henri Martin holdings are concentrated in Saint-Julien, with additional plots in the Haut-Médoc (labelled Château Bel Air Gloria). The varied parcels deliver concentration and structure typical of the appellation. Serve: Decant about 90 minutes to let tertiary aromas open. Drink now through 2040 for continued pleasure.
Château Gloria was assembled parcel by parcel by Henri Martin from vineyards across Saint-Julien and surrounding Médoc communes, many of which were recognised in the 1855 classifications. Known for careful viticulture and classical winemaking, the estate ages its wines in oak (about 14 months with ~40% new barrels) and remains committed to producing concentrated, terroir-driven wines.
