Hailing from Bordeaux's monumental 2005 vintage, this Saint-Julien gem is currently entering its glorious peak drinking window. Built meticulously from parcels originally classified among the historic 1855 Grand Crus, the vineyard sits on optimal Günzian gravel over clay-sand subsoils, offering superb natural drainage and radiant heat retention. Hand-harvested with extreme precision, the wine underwent temperature-controlled fermentation before maturing for 14 months in traditional French oak barrels. In the glass, it reveals a luminous deep ruby core with delicate garnet hues along the rim. The nose unfolds with an alluring cascade of ripe dark fruits, cedar chest, dried autumn leaves, dried spices, and classic black olive tapenade. On the palate, the power of 2005 has softened into an opulent, velvety texture where fine-grained tannins cradle generous black fruits, tobacco, and savoury earthy undertones. Structured yet supple, it delivers a lingering, aristocratic finish that embodies the effortless elegance of Saint-Julien.
