2019 Château Montrose is a monumental Saint‑Estèphe that marries power with refinement. The nose unfolds layers of ripe black fruits—blackcurrant and dark cherry—woven with cassis, tobacco leaf, espresso roast and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate it is densely concentrated and full-bodied, structured by polished yet powerful tannins and lifted by a saline, gravelly minerality. The wine spent 18 months in French oak, which brings fine-grained spice and subtle nougat notes without masking the core fruit. Produced from rigorous selection across Montrose’s single, contiguous 95‑hectare estate—gravel and sand over clay with excellent natural drainage—the 2019 shows the estate’s characteristic depth and long ageing potential. Decant for around 3 hours if drinking now to open the layers; otherwise cellar for further development. Ideal with richly flavored red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Château Montrose is a classified Second Growth (2ème Grand Cru Classé) with a rare contiguous 95‑hectare estate surrounding the château and cellars. Under the ownership of Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the property has seen significant investment in both vineyard management and cellar technology while keeping strict selection at each stage. The terroir—gravelly terraces over clay—creates ideal drainage and deep-rooting conditions, producing wines of power, structure and exceptional aging potential. Vinification includes careful parcel selection and élevage of approximately 18 months in French oak.
