1994 Château Pontet-Canet is a classic Pauillac showing the estate’s mineral, gravelly signature and meticulous biodynamic care. The nose opens with graphite and cedar notes, layered over darker fruit and a savory, tobacco-tinged spice. On the palate it is medium‑full with polished yet present tannins, bright energy and a precise mineral thread that carries flavors into a long, saline finish. Producer records note hand harvesting into small crates, manual sorting, indigenous yeast fermentations with a four‑week maceration and malolactic in vats. Ageing was split between French oak and concrete amphorae (about 50% new oak, 35% amphora, 15% one‑wine barrels) for 16–18 months, resulting in an elegant, textured wine that pairs beautifully with richly flavored red meats and mature cheeses.
