【Sommelier's private note】This is a dense, muscular Trotanoy: black plum and undergrowth on the nose, saddle-leather and truffle weaving through a core of concentrated dark fruit. The mid-palate is dense and creamy, framed by firm, polished tannins — give it an hour or more in a decanter or several years in the cellar. It rewards patience with a long, savoury finish that recalls chocolate and forest floor.

Château Trotanoy — in the hands of Jean‑Pierre Moueix since 1953 — is one of Pomerol's legendary estates. The vineyard is famed for a compact mixture of clay and gravel that hardens between rains, and an iron‑rich 'crasse de fer' subsoil. Grapes are hand‑harvested, double‑sorted and vinified in small concrete vats; maturation is carried out mainly in new French oak, producing wines of great concentration and aging potential.
