Tasting note: Deep garnet core with lively crimson rim. Aromas leap from the glass — ripe black cherry, cassis and juicy plum, layered with crushed stone, graphite and a hint of underbrush. The palate is medium–full, generous with dark fruit and mineral drive, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and a bright thread of freshness. A peppery, savoury finish lingers with gentle oak spice. Producer notes: La Dame de Montrose is the estate’s second wine, crafted to the same exacting standards as the Grand Vin but in a more immediately accessible style. Born as a tribute to former family stewardship, it typically represents a significant portion of the château’s annual production and reaches its drinking window sooner than the first label. Winemaking notes: The wine undergoes careful sorting and vinification at Château Montrose, followed by élevage in French oak for approximately 12 months. The aim is to preserve primary fruit while integrating subtle toasted spice and silky texture from oak ageing. Vineyard notes: The vineyard surrounds the château in a single, unified sweep across gravelly terraces over clay-rich subsoil — classic Médoc “elite core” terroir with excellent natural drainage. These parcels provide concentrated fruit, mineral tension and balanced natural water reserves that sustain vines through the season.
Château Montrose is a historic Saint‑Estèphe estate with a 95‑hectare vineyard that uniquely surrounds the château and facilities. Renowned for gravelly terraces over clay subsoil, Montrose benefits from excellent drainage and deeply rooted vines. Under the ownership of Martin and Olivier Bouygues the estate produces a rigorous Grand Vin and a more approachable second label crafted to high standards.
