Tasting Note: A profoundly expressive vintage, the nose unfolds layers of dark berry compote, black cherry and cassis with violet florals, baking spice, clove and a subtle balsamic note. Secondary aromas of dark and milk chocolate, espresso and truffle add complexity. On the palate it is concentrated and dense yet agile — polished, silky tannins wrap ripe dark fruit while integrated oak and fresh acidity drive a long, resonant finish. Producer Notes: Vieux Château Certan draws on deep know‑how and exceptional soils. The estate assembles its flagship wine from the finest plots and oldest vines, seeking clarity, richness and a refined profile that rewards patient cellaring. Winemaking: Fermentations are conducted in temperature‑controlled oak vats (regulated around 28°C) to achieve gentle, measured extraction. Carefully chosen cellar equipment and an 18‑month oak ageing regimen give structure and subtle oak integration without masking the fruit. Vineyard: The single‑block 14‑hectare vineyard is managed as 23 individually tended plots. Soils range from clay‑rich sections to gravelly parcels and benefit from the Pomerol plateau’s microclimate; the average vine age is around 50 years, contributing natural concentration and depth. Ideal for medium‑to‑long term cellaring, this vintage will reward 5–15+ years in good conditions.
